National Pet Wellness Month  is an educational initiative designed to raise awareness about the pet aging process, disease prevention and the importance of twice-a-year wellness exams for all cats and dogs.

Sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association and Fort Dodge Animal Health, National Pet Wellness Month began in October 2004 and is a year-round campaign where pet owners can receive important information, tailored specifically to their pets, from their personal veterinarians.

What are tapeworms and how does my pet get them?  Tapeworms are contracted by your pet swallowing an infected flea..

What kind of food should I feed my pet?
Dr Hansen recommends a good dry puppy or kitten food for the first year. After one year, you should switch to the adult version of the food you are currently feeding.

Can my pet get fleas even if he is totally indoors?  Yes, fleas can hitch a ride in on your clothing and then infest your pet.

If I use advantage or frontline on my pet, how long should I wait to give him a bath? and what should I bathe him with?  What we normally suggest is to apply your flea product and then wait one day before bathing, or to bathe your pet and then apply your flea product the next day . You must use a non detergent shampoo in order to avoid washing off the flea product.
